Psalm IV, THE DEEP FETCH

THE SWEET REPOSE OF AN EVENING PSALM

¶ I can hear David’s Evening Thoughts at the closing of his day just before he settles into the restful repose of PEACE in that Clandestine Hideout – The Hollow of the Hand of God – safe, for the night, from the regiments of bloodthirsty myrmidons led by his own son, Absalom, to hunt him down like a dog.

¶ “O, you sons of men, just how long will you chase after the deadly vanity that you so dearly love? Just how long will you follow after Absalom in his fatal uprising against God? How long will you clutch in your right hand that lethal, yet so alluring to the flesh, Lease on Lies that he sold you on in the very Gates of the City of David?  O, what price men pay!  This Lease on Lies of which we speak might also be known as the Devil’s Own Document for it was drawn up by Abaddon himself to plant a castle-in-the-air in the disingenuous mind of Absalom to entice Absalom into a fight he could not win. Too late to back out, Absalom found himself in a deadly contest with God. How long, you rebellious sons of men, will you do your best to mingle, mix, and match with the Light of the Glory of God, your now-you-see-’em, now-you-don’t, shifting shades and shadows of deception, to ribbon, knot, twist, and tangle the Truth with lies? Heresies, that do, in the end, bring only confusion, dishonor, reproach, shame, and death upon those who brandish them. Into whose debt did you descend to purchase this Lease on Lies that you believed, somewhere down the line, would bring you sovereign rein, wealth unimaginable, the fear of men, and the worship of the world? Selah! Have you no idea that you have been cross-stitched by the Evil One, tightly secured by his weaver’s hitch, and bundled for the fires of hell by buying into this tightly woven lacework of lies?”

¶ Only by the Spirit of God could David, being greatly outnumbered in the midst of a violent rebellion, as well as being forsaken, threatened, and violently turned against by many he trusted and loved in the very inner circle of his own ministry, find the strength to say,I will both lay me down in peace and sweet slumber, for it is You, and You alone O Lord Who has taken up my cause. It is You and You alone that makes me to dwell throughout this night in safety.”  {V.8, ¹wcv} .David knew, without a doubt, that he would rise the following morning fully sustained of a sound body and Godly mind, to pen, and perform yet another Psalm; Psalm V, which firmly states, “O Lord, my voice will You hear in the morning, my singing will You hear at the break of day, for I will be watching, and waiting for You, O Lord, to set my day in order” {Psalm 5:3, ¹wcv}  That, my friend, is ABIDING. That my friend is FAITH. That my friend is KNOWING the Lord. That my friend is the GODLY KIND.

¶ In Psalm IV, we have an EVENING PRAYER FOR DELIVERANCE composed by David, King of Israel, on an instrument of 10 strings and presented to the Master Player of Stringed Instruments, the anointed leader of David’s band of praisers and worshipers, to be sung to the idyllic lilting of their stringed instruments which did rise up into the heavens out of that Clandestine Hideout in lyrical rhapsody before the Lord from David and his behallowed serenaders of God before retiring into the sweet slumber of peace in that haven of a hollow in which they dwelt for the night known as the Hollow of the Hand of God. Thus they enjoyed the supernatural covering of sweet peace and sound sleep smack-dab-in-the-middle of a massive, bloody, violent rebellion led by his own son, from which this Aging King and a few of his faithful were, for a time, on the run. Here, you have a man so in tune with God that the Lord would come down and, in the long shadows of the evening, not only walk with him but assure him that He had taken up his cause against these bloody revilers, which is why this warrior, this mystic, this poet, this aging warrior king, this “Man After God’s Own Heart” would pen and perform on an instrument of ten strings a composition such as this:

PSALM IV

An Evening Prayer for Deliverance

<<For the Chief Musician of Stringed Instruments>>

A Psalm of David

1 Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness: Thou hast relieved me in my distress; Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.

2 O sons of men, how long will My honor become a reproach? How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception? Selah

3 Know that the Lord has set him that is Godly apart for Himself.  The Lord hears when I call to Him!

4 Tremble, and do not sin; Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still.

5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in the Lord

6 Many are saying, “Who will show us any good?” Lift up the Light of Thy countenance upon us, O Lord!

7 For You have put gladness in my heart, more than when the grain and new wine abound.

8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep, For You alone, O Lord, do make me to dwell in safety.

¶ That my friend was my taken from several different interpretations.

¶ Please allow me the liberty to pray this Psalm as prompted by the Holy Spirit for God’s people, my people, and my nation today, as we enter into the Beginning of Sorrows:

<<To the Master of stringed instruments, A Psalm of David>>

An EVENING PSALM for Deliverance

1 Hear me, O God, Father of my Righteousness: You have always lifted me up above mine enemy when I was in distress; once again show me Your boundless mercy and listen that I might please You with my song.

2 O, you sons of men, how long will you turn the Glory of God into shame? How long will you love vanity, and sell your soul as an investment in the Devil’s own Document for a Lease of Lies? Selah

3 Do you not know that the Lord has set apart The Godly Kind for Himself, that He hears my every song and honors my every request?

4 Take it from a bloody warrior such as your father; Cease from your violent deception or it will be the death of you. If you don’t fear me then you should certainly fear God – Search your heart tonight in the stillness of your quarters. Come to your senses and escape from the snare of the fowler, for you are not a warrior like your father, and I fear your rebellion will be the death of you.

5 The only thing strong about you is your conspiracy. Your sacrifices are but a vain show of theatrics to impress all those you have deceived,

6 Who say of the Godly Kind,  “Who is left to do you any good?” but You, O Lord, lift up the Light of Your countenance upon me. Do you not see the Light of the Lord upon my face,

7 Which overwhelms my heart with a gladness and a joy far greater than those whose vats and cribs are overflowing with wine, oil, and grain?

8 I will lay me down this night both in peace and sweet slumber, for it is You alone, O Lord, that surrounds me with Your safety.

¶ Though written some 3000 years ago by “The Man After God’s Own Heart”, is all of this not relevant to the very hour in which we live in this here United States of America? Is Absalom not on the loose in America today? And so, being here, smack-dab-in-the-middle of it, as was David in his day, I must say, “Because I give the glory to God, I will take from Him – My comfort!”

¶ And so, constructed on a few borrowed lines from (Psalm 91), so writes the Old Psalmist of Kentucky of The Godly Kind.

THE GODLY KIND © will callery  {based on Psalm 91}

Seems like these wars go on forever

And the fights, they wax hard and long.

I pray your wings stay strong,

And the Wind of God carry you,

Carry you on.

You may see ten thousand fall.

I know, I know you are well-armed.

You will take to the fight like an eagle on the wing,

And the Wind of God, He will bring,

Bring you home

Romance from above,

Winding down thru all of time.

Love never fails

The Godly Kind.

There is a fight brewing in this land.

There is a wild, unruly man,

Wants to raise his hand above the Hand of God.

Oh, that Wind will be the death of him,

The Wind of God.

I fear for those who refuse to see,

But that ain’t you and that ain’t me.

We will stand, stand in harm’s way

Until the Wind of God carries us

Into a brand new day.
